The Magic of Chia Seeds

So how exactly does so much joy come from such a tiny seed? Although small in stature, chia seeds are bursting with an immense supply of vitality, energy and strength. It may feel like magic, but the source is no mystery! Chia is one of the most nutrient-rich foods on the planet and each tiny seed is packed with Omega-3s, protein, fiber, calcium, potassium… the list goes on!

WHAT IS CHIA?

Chia is currently experiencing a renaissance, but where does it come from and why exactly are we hearing so much about it now? It may be a new thing to many of us, but chia seeds have actually been enjoyed for thousands of years!

Chia seeds come from the desert plant Salvia hispanica, a flowering member of the mint family that is native to North, Central and South America. We can trace its consumption and use all the way back to 3,000 B.C. where it was a staple of both Maya and Aztec diets. These ancient cultures revered the power of chia for its amazing energy and natural healing powers. One tablespoon of chia was considered capable of sustaining a warrior for 24 hours!

WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?

The benefits and origins of chia are all well and good, but what’s it like to eat or drink? Chia is neutral in flavor and because of this it can be easily incorporated into just about any recipe. It needs no preparation, unlike flax seed which needs to be ground, so you can instantly reap and enjoy its nutritional benefits!

Powerhouse versatility makes it a welcome addition to any meal, snack or beverage, whether it be a smoothie, parfait, salad… you name it!

If you want to add a nutrient boost to your everyday diet, you really need to look no further than this amazing and magical little seed!

THE SEED’S SOURCE

The way that our chia is grown remains true to our core mission of uplifting the soul of humanity and the soul of the planet!

All of our products are USDA Certified Organic, meaning they are produced without the use of toxic pesticides and fertilizers, antibiotics, synthetic hormones or GMOs.

By supporting farmers that use organic farming methods, we prevent disruption of our delicate and vital ecosystem by reducing the amount of chemicals released into the environment.

WHAT IS CHIA?

Chia seeds are truly the real deal when it comes to healthy eating. The tiny black and white seeds are naturally gluten free, packed with Omega 3, Fibre and are a great source of protein and many vitamins and minerals.

15g Chia    =    5g Fibre    +    3.2g Protein    +    2.7g Omega 3

The beauty of them is that they are so small and subtle tasting, you can easily add them to any meal to boost nutrition.

A fantastic little seed to fuel your day!

The seeds are harvested from the Salvia hispanica plant that grows close to the equator where they get their optimal growing condition.

Chia seeds have a soft shell so there’s no need to grind them, your body can easily absorb and benefit from the nutrients within.

But you can mill them using a cold-milling process so that no nutrients are lost.

Some people prefer the powdered texture of the milled seeds and they are a great way to hide extra nutrition in kids’ meals – think smoothies, yogurts, baking.

Just add Chia to your favorite foods or drinks and enjoy as part of a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
